Simultaneous with its relocation from its Berea - based offices to Hillcrest in 2000, Mark 2 Project Mangers (M2PM) conceptualised and launched the exclusive 25 unit Krantzkloof Falls Estate development on the edge of the scenic Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, and, in partnership with James Johnson, acquired Morgan Creek Properties 307 (Pty) Ltd (MCP), the registered owner of the land.

The new estate was an instant sell out and, from the success of this pilot project a growing number of new and innovative residential developments rolled off the production line under the MCP brand - Kirtlington Park Equestrian Estate Phase 1, 2, 3 and 4 (120 units), Waterford Country Estate (34 units) and Clifton Hill Phase 1, 2 and 3 (214 units).

Operating Philosphy

The Group's fundamental operating philosophy entails the highest degree of pro-active preparation, planning, meticulous administration and effective application of strict project and development management controls, providing all the services necessary to analyse and control every phase of a project from feasibility stage to actual completion and, in the process, to meet overall project and client objectives. MCP is a member of the NHBRC, Green Building Council of South Africa and the South African Property Owners Association.

Key Personnel

Mark Johnson
Mark, a partner of MCPROPS, M2PM and Riverhill, was educated at Maritzburg College, and later graduated as a Civil Engineer. He is a registered member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, and the Institute of Project Managers of South Africa. He worked for several years in the United Kingdom gaining extensive project management experience, before returning to South Africa where he co-founded M2PM in 1990. His direct, hands-on experience in a comprehensive spectrum of construction industry, civil and project management works ensures that the MCPROPS Group remain at the leading edge of property development in the province: Mark is an active sportsman.

James Johnson
James, a partner of MCPROPS and Riverhill, matriculated from Maritzburg College, moving on to complete his CA articles with Pim Golby. During this time he successfully passed his Honours Degree in Accounting Science and the Board Exam of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He spent 6 years in England working as a Chartered Accountant for an international company, and returned to the Republic in 1994. Since then he has been involved full-time in the construction/development profession, teaming up with his brother Mark and friend Marcus, to handle the groups’ financial and accounting affairs.

Richard Mohring
Richard matriculated from Kloof High School and went on to study production management joining a major automobile manufacturer in this capacity. In 1990 he started up his own construction business and began his association with MCPROPS as part of the construction team, in two of their residential developments. This relationship developed into Richard joining the group permanently in 1999 as the principle building contractor and project manager. In 2006 Richard was appointed to the Board of MCPROPS as a Director.
