Mark II Project Managers

Certified Green Project Mangers

In its original form, Mark II Projects CC commenced in business with one or two minor projects, but quickly earned a reputation as a focussed and energetic development and project management company, which grew rapidly during the early 1990's with the completion of a number of significant, upmarket residential estates - Loerie Park, Aruba, Tregenna and commercially, Virginia Aircraft Hangar, Briadene Industrial Park, and the well known Riverside (Durban) And President (Cape Town) Hotels.

However, in 1998 the old M2 was reformed under the new name of Mark II Project Managers (Pty)Ltd (M2PM) with Marcus Marchant and Mark Johnson, as its sole directors and shareholders.

a focussed and energetic development and project management company

This newly-formed company undertook the revamp of the National Monument Hollis House in 1999 before identifying the potential of the Upper Highway Area to become the new residential growth node of Durban - a vision that has been borne out by the proliferation of new estates in this district that has followed their positive lead.

Strategic Partnerships

At the end of 2004, in partnership with G5 (Specialised Finance) the 150 million Rand, 35 000 square meter landmark Umlazi Mega City retail development in Umlazi, Durban was successfully packaged and onsold to listed property funds Martprop and SA Retail. Construction of this well-located, flagship project commenced in January 2005 and the centre opening as programmed took place in the Easter of 2006 - M2PM and G5 were retained by the new owners to project manage the development.

M2PM and G5 have, subsequently forged a sound working relationship with listed funds Martprop and SA Retail with whom they have subsequently developed the R 90 million, 12 500 square meter Philani Mall, anchored by Spar and Build It. Development planning is now taking place on a number of large commercial and retail projects for placement either in the funds or to be retained in the growing property portfolios of these two companies. M2PM is a member of the Project Management Institute of South Africa.
